Holocaust Memorial

This was taken at the Israeli Holocaust museum outside the childrens memorial. There is such a sad story behind it. The man depicted with the children was a Jew who was a school teacher. When the Nazis started moving Jews from the ghettos to the concentration camps, they offered him his life and his freedom to help them in taking care of the children until they would dispose of them. He is highly honoured amongst the Jews because instead he turned down their offer, and went with the children on the train, playing games and singing songs with them, and then he walked into the gas chambers with them.

There are rocks placed all over the statue where they can fit because of the Jewish custom.
